Last season, Dennis George drifted a 1969 BMW 2002. This ex-SCCA Club Racing Car turned drift car was powered by a carbuereted and naturally aspirated 2.0L 8-valve engine. The whopping 120 crank-HP motor propelled it sideways, putting up much of a fight.
The vintage low-horsepower car was a challenge to drift but, surprisingly, Dennis George came through with some wins. Drift fans, novices and experts alike, would stop to admire the car for its uniqueness and style. They were amazed to find out that the car did not have anywhere near as much power as its competitors'. This fact helped to spotlight Dennis George's driving skills.
1969 BMW 2002
While the BMW performed very well at events last season, Dennis felt that he needed a more compotent and powerful machine because of the highly competitive nature of the NOPI Drift Series. Dennis chose a 1995 Nissan 240SX to start with as his base. After several modifications, the 240SX is powered by a 400 wheel-horsepower 2.4L turbocharged engine. The chassis is fully race prepared from suspension to brakes and is currently fitted with all of the required safety equipment.
